Reward your ActiveCampaign subscribers by sending them access to exclusive downloads, like free songs, a magazine, or an ebook. By combining the power of ActiveCampaign and Digioh, you can easily create a system that will send new subscribers your file immediately after they sign up to your list. It’s a great way to start an engaging relationship! These steps will show you how to do it.
Step 1: Create a contact list and sign up form in ActiveCampaign
The first thing you’ll need to do is create a contact list and sign up form if you don’t already have them. Log in to ActiveCampaign, navigate to the Lists tab and Add New List.
Fill in requested information in the popup and save. After creating the list, click on Integrations, then Forms.
Make sure that the list you’ve just created is selected and give this form a name.
Use the left-side navigation to Build your subscription form, choose themes and styles for your form, and edit the opt-in confirmation email. The last option is Integrate with your site.
Click on this and copy the Embeddable HTML. Paste this code into your website where you want the form to appear.
Step 2: Create a download link to your file with Digioh
Now that you’ve set up your list and sign up form, you’ll need to set up your file. Sign up to Digioh for free, a service that allows you to send, track, and protect files for your subscribers. Once you have a Digioh account, connect it to your ActiveCampaign account and Add a File.
Use the red Select a File button to choose the file you want to upload. Under Security Options you’ll be able to set the security level for the file. The security level tells Digioh what to do when someone who is not on your list tries to access your file.
With List Grower Security, if a person is not already on your list, it will ask them to sign up in order to download the file.
With Membership Security, only those already subscribed to your list are allowed access.
Since we want more sign ups for your list, choose your list from List Grower Security. This way, if anyone forwards the link to your file, they’ll be prompted to subscribe.
Step 3: Customize your download page
Add your logo and customize your download page for a branded, professional look.
Save your changes and move to the next page. Here you’ll be given the download link to copy and paste into your ActiveCampaign welcome email. Notice the ActiveCampaign email merge field is included at the end of the link. This allows Digioh to track which subscribers are most engaged and are downloading your files.
Step 3: Create a welcome email with ActiveCampaign’s Automated Series
With your download link in hand, we now need to create a welcome email that will be sent automatically to new subscribers. In ActiveCampaign, navigate to Campaigns, then select Automated Series and Create New Series.
Choose to start the automated series when a contact Subscribes to a list and make sure your list is selected.
On the next screen you’ll see the beginning of a flowchart. Click on the + sign and in the popup, select Email. Now you’ll see a dropdown menu to Select a email. Click on it and select Create a email. You’ll be taken to the email editor.
Compose your welcome message here and insert your Digioh download link where it fits best. To create a hyperlink, simply highlight the text you want to link, then click on the link icon and paste your download link in the popup window.
When you are finished you’ll be brought back to the Series page. Switch the series to Active in the top right corner to turn on the series.
The last thing to do is to run through the entire set up for yourself to be sure it’s working properly. You can do this by signing yourself up using the sign up form you’ve created.
