Build a Custom SendGrid Opt-In Form (No Coding Required)

Build a Custom SendGrid Opt-In Form (No Coding Required)
January 12, 2021 by Rishi

If you send email with SendGrid Marketing Campaigns, you know you need opt-in forms to generate leads from your website, grow your lists, and turn site visitors into customers.

To maximize conversions, you must build optimized capture widgets that look and work great, but as a busy marketer, you might not have time to code forms when you need to launch a new campaign fast.

Digioh’s custom form builder is designed with marketers in mind, making it easy to create custom opt-in forms and subscription widgets integrated with SendGrid. That way, you can collect more first-party data and put it to use in personalized SendGrid campaigns, quickly.

Here’s a video overview, where we share a quick demo of the Digioh-SendGrid widget builder.

Building SendGrid Capture Forms

Digioh’s form builder makes it drag-and-drop simple to create custom subscription widgets, either from a pop-up template or by starting from scratch. You can add unlimited custom fields (great for segmenting your SendGrid Marketing Campaigns subscribers), plus buttons, images, text, and custom HTML/CSS.

Digioh provides templates for email signup pop-ups, lead capture pop-ups, surveys, quizzes, contact forms, and more.

You can create simple opt-in forms, banners, or sidebars, or more complex widgets like product preference quizzes, progressive multi-step forms, mobile-optimized forms, and customer surveys. Our inline widgets even let you place a form (or a button) within your existing page content.

Want to personalize your forms? Digioh enables you to display dynamic content personalized by page URL, UTM parameters, or even on-page content for advanced eCommerce personalization. For example, if you have different discounts on different products, Digioh forms can pull in the discount amount and display it when a visitor views a specific product page (e.g. 25% off on a plush toy, vs 30% off a wooden toy).

In this example, the subscription widget has two custom fields: a birthdate field and a product interest field (with several options to choose from, e.g. Plush Toys or Wooden Toys). Digioh integrates with SendGrid Marketing Campaigns to pass this data to your SendGrid account in real-time.

Maximize Conversions with Targeted, Dynamic Opt-In Forms

To control the display of your widgets and forms, Digioh’s conditions editor allows you to target by referring URL, browsing behavior, device, exit-intent, UTM parameters, and more. In this example, you’ll see a widget that displays to first-time visitors, only, so we use Digioh’s “Past Visits” conditions.

Digioh provides endless options for targeting your forms to drive more conversions.

Whether you use Digioh or another form builder, here are a few ideas to grow your list with form conditions and targeting:

  • Improve the onsite experience for your existing email subscribers by suppressing capture forms when current subscribers visit your site.
  • Display targeted offers for visitors who come to your site from paid advertising (such as Facebook or Google Ads).
  • Increase the relevance of your forms by displaying dynamic form content based on what kind of content visitors are currently viewing.
  • Show different versions of your form based on whether a visitor is on desktop or mobile.
  • Prevent cart abandonment by triggering exit-intent lightboxes to shoppers who have items in their cart.
  • Create multilingual forms and target visitors based on their default browser language.

Once you’ve created the perfect capture form, it’s time to pass your form data to SendGrid.

How to Pass Form Data to SendGrid

To pass custom field data from Digioh to SendGrid, you need to create matching custom fields in SendGrid (in this case, birthday date field and a product_interest text field). This data can be used to segment your subscribers, and send special birthday promotions.

Once you create your custom fields in SendGrid, just map them to Digioh’s custom fields (with a few clicks), and your integration is ready to pass your form data.
